Today is Grateful Wednesday, and there are so many things that I am grateful everyday – but today I am honoring my home and my neighborhood.
I thank God each day that I have a home to go to, and that my family has a place to rest their heads at the end of each day. It may not be perfect, but it is home — the place where memories are made.
I am grateful for my neighborhood, for the diversity and tolerance of the people who live there and for it being so green with such grand trees and beautiful landscapes. I love the neighboring hills and creeks, and the deer, rabbits, birds and other wildlife that share their space with us. I love the way the trees look in the reflection of the evening sun, the smell of honeysuckle in the spring, and the neon-bright leaves in the fall.
I am thankful for the ice-cream man who knows each child by name, and my neighbors who care enough to say hello or bring me soup when I am under the weather. I love the innocent laughter of children playing in the field and on the playground, the colorful sidewalk drawings and the lemonade stands…
This is my neighborhood, this is my home. I am thankful for every day that I get to enjoy it.
It is so beautiful.
