My professional life has been a bit rocky lately and was really starting to let it get the best of me. I fell off the consistent exercise wagon, I have not been the fun mom I usually am, and I have isolated myself from most social activities. BAD Susan.
I am old enough to understand that I cannot be brilliant all the time – but being in this position is not fun and I certainly don’t like it. After a particularly bad day week month quarter year at work, a friend sent me an email that said “sometimes you have to let things just suck. Sometimes you just have to go through it.”
She was right. The minute I stopped fighting it I started releasing the anger and frustration and just let it go, I was liberated.
I am thankful for the wisdom of friends, and for knowing such inspiring people.
Hope your work life has gotten better Susan. I try to keep the motto “Work to live, don’t live to work.” I’ve been striving to find a job that respects my time as a person outside the office. Thats my dream. Hopefully you can make that a reality as well.
Thanks Jack! It is really about having faith in yourself enough to make that dream happen. I am working on it too.
